What We Do
There is a strong sense of community in the military, which is accomplished when young men and women are put together and forced to trust and rely on complete strangers to achieve a goal. These relationships are fast forming under intense pressure. This is a drastic difference compared to civilian life where it is easy to feel isolated, and relationships evolve at a different pace. Veterans Healing Farm was born out of a sincere desire to create a place where veterans can plug into a new community, and discover a new "mission" outside of the military. We believe that friendship, connectedness, and community are essential to overall health and wellness.
Our Core Principles
We are in the process of building a community center to host training seminars on such topics as horticulture, holistic health, sustainability, animal husbandry, and medicinal herbs. These seminars are intended to train and educate veterans with cutting-edge skills and resources for implementing organic gardening, holistic health, homesteading, and sustainability at their own homes and throughout their lives.
A key component of our organization is an emphasis on community building. To accomplish this we facilitate a wide range of activities, the primary being working together on the farm.
Veterans Healing Farm grows a wide variety of fruits & vegetables while employing innovative farming techniques. Much of the food grown is donated to veterans in need and local food banks, providing members an opportunity to serve others and experience a sense of "mission accomplishment".
